    John Lennon Fidia

Posted before but good for the record John Lennon purchased a Fidia and may have owned more than one.

The one picture shows him seated in the Fidia and the other shows him having a conversation with Piero Rivolta.

    Mike,
John Lennon owned #003/D, #005/D, and #146/D. Both the early cars are owned by our Club members and attend events. #005/D is a regualar attendee. It was converted from 4-sp to Poweglide 2-sp auto by the factory while in Lennon's posession. I once interviewed the old guy who was service manager for Trojan (the UK importers) and he described how he drove the car from the UK to Bresso for the work to be done. He said all the office girls came out of the factory to see John Lennon's car! He almost got arrested coming back through Switzerland, because the car had a big radio telephone, which were illegal at the time.
#003/D is still the original 5-sp.
#146/D came to light many years ago, but has since disappeared. Original owner was apparently Apple Records. When I tried to contact the guy on the phone years later F003dd.jpgF003cc.jpgF005v Hugh's 09 a.jpgF005r Hugh's 09 a.jpgF005u interior a.jpg someone told me he had "done a runner"...

    Thanks for that info.

Does that box behind the brake contain the phone? It looks like it has a light on it too? original interior?

It is the original interior, and very nice condition, too. The box may have had something to do with the phone, but possibly looks a bit small? On Lennon's previous Fidia #003/D the phone was fixed onto the tunnel beside the handbrake. Maybe the light was to shine on the phone...
